As David Lowery said ... Innsbrook is weird. I paid two bucks for parking. I dont think I've ever paid that little for show parking. Then again the tickets were only five bucks. Anyway, picture a grassy field, that turns into a gravel field, and then a raised deck (4' to 5' tall). Well that's Innsbrook. It's lost in the middle of all these corporate buildings, including the ill fated DIVX building.
The opening band was Leon somethingerother, they were alright, but not outstanding. After they left the stage they rigged stuff up for Cracker and they finally took the stage. David was wearing his pitch-a-tent t-shirt, and it was Bob wearing the suit this time. David was having an incredible time on the stage last night ... at one point Willis offered him a drink, but David said "no, I'm too drunk to drink pop". Later on in the set he also called Willis Ricky Schroder. : )
After the show as Sara said, the band was autographing stuff (GB cat posters and such). They had a little table set up with chairs for everyone (except Bob who was off else where .. with his brother maybe?). A few of us talked to frank briefly about his web page and he was complaining about working with html editors since he's put up his new web page.
A bit later David asked us if we'd like to come back stage ... duh. Of course we did, and we talked to him back there. He introduced his wife to us - and she is due Oct 12. I wouldnt expect any Cracker dates around that time.
While we were talking backstage with David a cop had to move his police car, and a few of us were leaning on it ... whoops. It turns out that David knew the cop from a couple years ago - but he didnt want to point that out to the cop. A couple of years ago David was on a beverage run from the sound of music, and the total at the store was quite high. After David wrote the check for the total, they called the police on him. In the end it turns out there is another David Lowery in the Richmond area that has been writing bad checks. Our David wouldnt write bad checks ...
I'm sure there are other stories about last night out there, but I'll let other people that were there pick up on them ...
Oh, we had a ton of C2K people around ... I saw Jessica, Chris, Matthew and Teeter, Nancy and Karen, mango, Alex Hastings, Tony, John Finch and his daughter, and I know I missed a couple people's names.
We talked to Willis about the Port O Call show, and he said that he would try to post something to the internet and or the list about the show by today. He said he thought the show was 50/50 ...
He also added news about the stage change for the VA Beach show. Cracker will be playing on the 31st street stage - along with the Beach Boys and Agents of Good Roots (among others I'm sure...)
David also mentioned that Lauren Hoffman was invited to sound check with Cracker tomorrow night at Trax, so we might get to hear something from both of them tonight!
Well, I must pretend to work now ...
